We owe it to our celebrities for popularizing certain fitness trends, various forms of exercising have become synonymous with various celebrities. Where Yoga is practiced by the likes of Madonna and now Shilpa Shetty of course, resistance training by bollywood hot tie Salman Khan and of course our Six pack 40 plus superhero Sharukh Khan. Celebrities have been quick to draw our attention to what forms of training have really helped them get into great shape. As Brad Pitt clocked miles on his treadmill, during his recent visit to India, eager fitness freaks crowded to the gym to get a sneak preview at this Super stud’s fitness routine.
One such fitness trends, was that of cardio kickboxing.Popularised by Baywatch Babe Electra Carmen. Known for her sensual appeal, this super model can have you doing almost any routine with a promise of a body like that! Where a soap of the like of Bay watch requires absolute physical perfection, let us examine how this exercise routine can get you into Swimsuit perfection really fast!
Cardio kickboxing is actually an adaptation of the martial arts and boxing to the gym studio. Done to fast paced, electrifying music, you can expect to burn over 650 calories in one session alone(depending on the trainers intensity of course). It is a combination of high and low impact cardio moves, which requires you to be moving continually with jabs, strikes, punches and kicks for a good duration of 45 mins to an hour. Thrown in additionally are traditional martial art and boxing drills, which can seriously leave you panting and gasping for breath. So if your idea of cardio vascular training is a walk in the park, this type of training is certainly not for you.
Besides seriously challenging your cardiovascular system and endurance capacity, this routine has you working your arms, legs and core muscles all at the same time. So if you were having a hard time shaping those flabby arms or not getting those sleek toned legs, this exercise is certainly for you and almost before the completion of a months’ worth of class, you will see your waistline whittling down a serious size or two (provided of course you are not hitting the pizza joint or beer bar post your session!).
Simply speaking, this routine can help you drop pounds really fast and help you lean out and shape up in a hurry. This is not everybody’s cup of tea though. Before you jump up and sign up for a class here are some factors you must consider-
1. If you are more than 15 kilos overweight, you need to shed at least six –eight kilos of body weight (unless most of that happens to be muscle weight) before you step into this class. Overweight individuals can risk serious injury to their back and knees in this fast moving high-low class.
2. If you have not been exercising for some time now or your current fitness levels are low, then too you need to work a couple of months to increase your fitness levels before you join this class.
3. This class involves sudden, jerky movements. In order to safeguard yourself and prevent injuries, this training has to be supplemented with at least two days of resistance training, a week.
4. Older individuals (especially those with medical concerns or poor fitness levels) should not join in with this training until they resolve these problems.
5. It is important to train with a certified trainer, who will observe all safety standards required during class and guide you with the right stances and movements to be followed, so that you can continue to reap benefits, injury-free (think quality workouts)
6. It is important to wear the right training shoes (preferably even running shoes) meant to sustain the jerks of high impact activity and good apparel that allows comfortable movement.
7. Lastly, follow your trainers exercise guidance and recommendations for class and keep yourself hydrated.
That said you can safely kick yourself into great shape this summer with this super intensive exercise routine.
