Jyoti Mehta, wife of Sanjay Mehta, murdered in Dunn Way, Blacktown The happy family in Dunn Way, Blacktown, Australia turned into a cementary, as the husband, Sanjay Mehta, is alleged to have murdred his wife and daughter. As per police, Sanjay took members of his family for a drive to the Blue Mountains with the dead bodies of his wife and a girl in the car! He had also instructed other members of his family to lie about the where-abouts of his wife and daughter, for the last few days. Sanjay placed the bodies of wife Jyoti and 9-year-old daughter in the boot of Toyota Camry car and took two other family members for a drive to Echo Point lookout at Katoomba. While the other members were out, Sanjay took the two bodies and threw over the cliff.

Police also states that Sanjay’s mobile phone was registered making a two-way trip to Katoomba and back to Blacktown the next morning. Subsequent records of conversations - obtained via a listening device in the family home - recorded Mehta coaching a member of his family whom he said had been with him while he drove around Blacktown on the night of May 5. That family member has since changed his evidence, and told police that he and Sanjay had in fact driven to the Blue Mountains that night.

The Indian national, employed as an parking technician, met his wife on the internet in July 2006. She moved to Australia to marry him in May the following year.

Sanjay will remain in custody until his next appearance in the same court on July 21. Police will allege he murdered his wife and the girl in the family home, then drove them to the Blue Mountains before throwing them off a cliff. They say he has shown no remorse and has continuously denied his involvement, despite an “extremely strong” prosecution case.

Now i’m not 100% sure but i’m pretty much 99% sure that this is the same Sanjay Mehta that was arrested in Manly for keying a car whilst on duty as a parking officer for manly council,he scratched 4 or 5 cars that day but was only convicted for the one that a witness saw,but police said they knew he done them but thats all they could get him on some 4 or 5yrs ago,i would love to know if this is the same guy as he lived in Blacktown was about in his late 30s then and had a very aggressive nature towards people parking there cars.

We all back in India are eagerly waiting for the outcome of the investigation as to the manner in which Sanjay Mehta killed Jyoti Mehta and her kid Ujhala.

As a parking supervisor, we presume he is a small fellow in social status and it didn’t fit his stature to murder a mother & child. What sort of individual is he to have committed such a ghastly crime. What sort of prince is he to have married another woman but whom he could not support and let her live. What was his history sheet to have dared to commit such a heinous crime. Would any one at Sidney knowledgeable enough throw light and let us have feedback here? Thanks to them in advance.

i used to live next door to him in dunn way and he was such a horrible person. i only knew the 1st wife - he would lock her out of the house in the middle of the night and they would have terrible screeming matches at all times of the day. he threw a paver at my dog over the fence once. he was an awful awful person! and truthfully i’m not at all shocked that this has happened i always thought it would - i even complained to the police about him while i lived there.

The police of Australia have made a fresh appeal for witnesses in the deaths of an Indian mother and her nine-year-old daughter, whose bodies were sighted June 1 at a popular tourist spot.

Sanjay Mehta, an engineer, was arrested on June 2 on charges of murdering his wife Jyoti Basu and his nine-year-old stepdaughter Ujjala Dinesh. The murders were discovered a day earlier on June 1 when a walker sighted a woman’s body at the bottom of Echo Point lookout at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, about an hour’s drive west of Sydney.

Detectives investigating the murders are particularly keen to hear from a couple walking a small white-haired dog at Echo Point on the evening of Monday, May 5 — the day Mehta had reported his wife and stepdaughter missing.

Mehta is alleged to have murdered his wife and stepdaughter in Dunn Way in the western Sydney suburb of Blacktown, according to a police statement submitted to the Blacktown Local Court earlier this month.

While the two family children went for a walk, Mehta threw the bodies off the cliff, which landed 150 metres down on the canyon floor. He then drove home, the police alleged.

Detectives said they were keen to hear from any other members of the public who might have seen a white Toyota Camry, with personalised registration AP-00-ZZ, in the Echo Point car park or Katoomba’s central business district.

Mehta, 41, who was arrested from the family house in Dunn Way, had met Jyoti on the Internet in July 2006 and they were married in May 2007 after she moved to Australia.

According to the police, she had approached the Jessie Street Domestic Violence Service in January this year after she was verbally abused by her husband, who had also threatened to kill her or have her deported.

Jyoti had also told her younger sister, who lives in the western suburb of North Parramatta, that her relationship with Mehta “was very strained and that he had recently been physically violent towards her”, the police document stated.

Mehta’s former wife, who had returned to India after their marriage broke down, is said to have returned to the family home in Blacktown May 26.

    The case is going on.

    Hi,

I am observing that two people:
AV and MADH…OD are involved with the case.

AV is aware of all the case, MADH… is attached emotionally.

I am sure that Sanjay will be in jail for his life. Please note that in Australia there is no death sentence.

When he will be in jail we all will be waiting for Jail Break news ONE DAY. (Just Joking)

Very Sad end of one family. I do not worry for Sanjay, what ever happen to small girl and Ms Sharma is shocking. I also really worry for his first wife, his son and his daughter from first marriage. ONE THOUGHTLESS MAN HAS SPOILED LIFE OF 5 absolutely innocent persons. The surviving family will survive the most.

Hello people interested in Sanjay Mehta.

Today, on 14 August 2009 in Sydney’s Supreme Court, Sanjay was sentenced to 30 years gaol for the murder of Jyoti, and life in prison for the murder of his young step-daughter.

Breaking news: Blacktown man sentenced to life for murder of wife and stepdaughter
BLACKTOWN man Sanjay Mehta has been sentenced to life for the murder of his stepdaughter and wife in May last year.
In the Supreme Court today, Justice Michael Grove said the murder of nine-year-old Ujala Dinesh was in the worst category and “of such heinousness’’ that the 43-year-old should spend his life in prison. He was also sentenced to 30 years for the murder of his wife Jyoti, 38. The decomposed bodies of the Indian mother and daughter were found at the bottom of Echo Point in the Blue Mountains in June last year, a month after they were reported missing. Justice Grove said Mehta disposed of the bodies “in the most callous fashion’’. Although Mehta didn’t testify, Justice Grove said evidence from a conversation with his cell mate revealed that he strangled his wife because she planned to leave him and then “dealt with the daughter’’ because she witnessed the incident. The court heard Mehta showed no remorse and rehabilitation was not favourable considering his history of violence against women. In 2002, Mehta threatened to kill his first wife, bit her cheek and put his hands around her throat. He was convicted of assault in Blacktown Local Court. Outside the court, Jyoti’s sister Poonam Sharma said: “We got justice’’.
“We are happy and we are so glad he got a life sentence,’’ she said.
